2024: A collective adventure driven by research, innovation, and the arrival of new talents at TerrOïko!

Terroiko in 2024 is

TerrOïko's study department carries out a wide range of assignments (17 Green and Blue networks , 23 Black Networks, 5 Transport Infrastructures, and 5 Renewable Energy Projects) in collaboration with numerous stakeholders in the field: DarkSkyLab, auddicé, Element5, Egis, setec, EkoAm Environnement, ECO-MED, La TeleScop, Artelia, Biotope, CETIAC, CERESCO, Lumin(escence), OXAO - Ecosystem Regenerators, ON, the Light Design Agency.

The year 2024 also marked an important milestone with the implementation of the first Brown Networks. We received excellent feedback on our ERC studies at various territorial scales. Finally, our urban biodiversity indicators began to show their value on two urban design projects conducted this year.

TerrOïko's Research and Development division continues or wins 5 key projects in 2024:

  • The PEP-BIOccIA project develops tools based on artificial intelligence for ecological planning and the preservation of local biodiversity in Occitania. Models will help identify areas to protect and optimize land use.
  • The Forbes project develops tools and methods to integrate biodiversity into the financing of development projects and corporate reporting. It follows the Bison project and aligns with the CSRD directive. It will be tested with local authorities and partners.
  • OptiBioNum integrates ecological indicators into BIM tools to evaluate and minimize the environmental impact of infrastructure from the planning phase.
  • Our team is adapting SimOïko for marine ecosystems to improve environmental management in aquatic environments.
  • Polymor-FENCE assesses the effect of fenced photovoltaic parks on ecological continuity for better integration of renewable energy in natural landscapes.

On the SimOïko side, 2024 saw the launch of beta testing with 6 partners and a call for projects on the use of our software.

In parallel with these projects, the team contributed to advancing research through scientific publications:

Finally, 6 new recruits joined the team. Maëlle Michel (study engineer) joined us in January, followed by Jules GRAEFF who joined the innovation division, and Elisabeth de Jouvancourt as executive assistant. In September, Iván Beltrán (study and R&D engineer) and Marie-Camille CHAMAYOU (marketing apprentice) joined the team.Caroline VINCENT (study and R&D engineer) rounded off this dynamic growth.

Onward to 2025!
